TO BE SWALLOWED BY SEA : 44 NATIONS' EXISTENCE IN DANGER

TO BE SWALLOWED BY SEA :
44 NATIONS' EXISTENCE IN DANGER

Can Tuvalu formerly known as Ellice Islands be the first modern nation to drown or swallowed by sea? Not surprising. As the sea levels are rising due to climate change low lying areas are in danger. Their existence is at stake so is their culture.

The Pacific island of Tuvalu with around 10,000 population will likely to disappear first as it is just 6ft above sea level. United Nations consider that this tiny country will be the first to suffer complete loss of landmass.

The Prime Minister of Tuvalu Enele Sopoaga has focused his career on fighting climate change globally and  cautioned the world by stating, " For saving the existence of the world, Tuvalu  has to be saved. If Tuvalu is wiped out from the map of the world due to Global Warming, it will not be an end of a catastrophe but beginning of the same."

The Alliance of Small Island States represents a group of 44 nations. This group is fighting against these dire circumstances that threaten to destroy their existence due to climate change.

If this situation continues like this:

Ocean levels will  rise from 2.5ft to 6.5ft till 2100AD. If it happens then eastern shore of America is bound to be under sea.

Sea levels may rise upto 23ft. Greenland ice sheet will melt completely. This is enough for bringing London city under water.

2.6% that is around 17.70 crore people of total population of the world will be troubled by repeated onslaught of flood and 1.9% population will have to face destruction due to flood.
