 BIHAR CAPITAL PATNA EXPORTED TO SCOTLAND

Hardly anybody knows that there is another Patna, 11000 km away from capital of Bihar India. Bihar's Patna has a population of around 17 lakh where as the foreign Patna is inhabited by around 2000. Indian Patna is situated on the bank of river Ganga where as that of foreign on the bank of  river Doon. Bihar's Patna is a great ancient city where as foreign Patna was founded in the early years of the 19th century.

But where is this foreign Patna? Bihar capital namesake is in Scotland and is founded by William Fullarton who was born in Patna. On his return to Scotland he started coal and limestone mining on the banks of the Doon. He constructed houses nearby to accommodate miners  and decided to name the helmet Patna. Thus "Patna" of Bihar got exported to Scotland.

Schoolchildren of Bihar may not be aware of this foreign "Patna" but the children of Patna Primary School of Scotland have been taught about  Patna of Bihar India situated on the bank of the Ganga on which there is a big bridge named Mahatma Gandhi Setu. These children have learnt Indian dance forms & songs, and eagerly waiting to visit the Original Patna - big city with a huge population.
