न तत्र सूर्यो भाति न चन्द्रतारकं नेमा विद्युतो भान्ति कुतोsयमग्निः।

तमेव भान्तमनुभाति सर्वं तस्य भासा सर्वमिदं विभाति।।

कठोपनिषद

(वहाँ सूर्य प्रकाशमान नहीं हो सकता और चन्द्रमा आभाहीन हो जाता है, समस्त तारागण ज्योतिहीन हो जाते हैं - वहाँ विद्युत् भी नहीं चमकती न ही कोई पार्थिव अग्नि प्रकाशित होती है। क्योंकि, जो कुछ भी प्रकाशमान है वह 'उस'की ज्योति की प्रतिच्छाया है, 'उस' की आभा से ही यह सब प्रतिभासित होता है। )

अग्निर्यथैको भुवनं प्रविष्टो रूपं रूपं प्रतिरूपो बभूव।

एकस्तथा सर्वभूतान्तरात्मा रूपं रूपं प्रतिरूपो बहिश्च।।

कठोपनिषद

(जिस प्रकार एक ही 'अग्नि' भुवन में प्रविष्ट हुआ है किन्तु यह जिस रूप के सम्पर्क में आता है उसका ही प्रतिरूप धारण कर लेता है, उसी प्रकार समस्त भूत -प्राणियों में विद्यमान 'अन्तरात्मा ' एक ही है परन्तु रूप-रूप के सम्पर्क से वैसा वैसा प्रतिरूप बन जाता है, इसी प्रकार वह उनसे बाहर भी है।)
