NRI DUO CREATE THE ONLY PRIVATE WILDLIFE SANCTUARY IN INDIA

NRI DUO CREATE THE ONLY PRIVATE WILDLIFE SANCTUARY IN INDIA

"For anyone who wants to bring a change, we advise them to set one single goal and believe that they can achieve it" says the couple.

This couple who bought barren land in 1991 and transformed it into a 300 acre wildlife sanctuary. The land was unused and abandoned due to excess of rainfall  and located in Kodagu district of Karnataka. They chose Kodagu because it is the micro hotspot of biodiversity in the entire planet.

There were a lot of native trees that already existed there. The couple, Dr Anil and Pamela Malhotra,  decided to retain those and follow three important rules:
No chopping down of any tree
No human interference
No poachers

The sanctuary also has a river flowing in the heart which meets the water needs of the animals.

The aim of the couple is to preserve the flora and fauna, specially the rainforests, for future generation. They believe that when they die they should give back the same Earth which they got from their ancestors, to the next generation.

They have made an appeal to wealthy Indians to save our forests, wildlife and fresh water resources.

" People think that animals need the forest. But the truth is, that forest need animal equally. While forest helps animals in providing shelter and food, animals help forest in regeneration --- they are both inter-dependent and we should make efforts to preserve both" couple opine.

Save Animal Initiative (SAI) sanctuary, one of its kind and the only private wildlife sanctuary in India, has given shape to the NRI couple's dreams of preservation and protection of nature and wildlife.
