MIGRATION & CHANGE AMONG THE THARUS OF WEST CHAMPARAN BIHAR

Video Uploaded by Dr Ajay Kumar Ojha

This video clip "From the Eyes of Dr Ajay Kumar Ojha" contains  an interview with a Tharu Schedule Tribe of Bakhari Bazaar of Ramnagar Block of West Champaran Bihar India "on migration". Till the end of 20th century the Tharus of West Champaran were a close society and  scared of moving outside the Tharuhat as in the case of other tribal  societies. But with the arrival of 21st century there was drastic change in the situation also. Tharuhat got connected directly with all the parts of the country  through rail and  the Tharus gained the status of Schedule Tribe in 2003. A static or closed society turned into a dynamic and active society.
