INDIAN PRODIGY SATNAM SCRIPTS HISTORY
BY BECOMING FIRST INDIAN TO BE DRAFTED IN NBA
Satnam Singh Bhamara has scripted history by becoming the first Indian to be picked by the Dallas Mavericks in 2015 NBA Draft thus taking Giant Leap. The NBA Draft is an event where 60 players are eligible to be picked by the 30 NBA franchise over two rounds. Satnam was the 52nd pick among a pool of 60 in the Draft.

The 7'2" basketball player was born on 10th December 1995 in the small village of Balloke of Barnala in Punjab to a poor farmer. Satnam weighs 132kg and wears size 20 shoes. His father is 7'4" tall and his grandmother 6'9".

In spite of inability to speak English he was awarded scholarship to the prestigious IMG academy. He went to the US at at age of only 15 .

There are thirty teams , 29 of these are from the US while the Toronto Raptors are the Canadian franchise.
The NBA is among the world's richest leagues. In comparison to IPL's 10-yr TV contract worth $1bn its new 9-yr deal is worth $ 24bn.
The first player to be selected from outside of the US was Manute Bol of Sudan who was 7'7" tall. Gursimran "Sim" Bhuller was the first player of Indian origin to play in the NBA but unlike Satnam, he was born in Canada.
