GEETA FIRST BAIGA (PARTICULARLY VULNERABLE TRIBAL GROUPS) GIRL
 OF MADHYA PRADESH CEATES HISTORY

Baiga is one of the most primitive tribes which has been listed among Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) by the Centre. In this tribe studying is still largely an alien idea.

Geeta Tekam (18) of this tribe created history by becoming the first female member to clear JEE-Main. She belongs to Sunehra village of Mawai block of Mandla district  - one of the most backward regions of Madhya Pradesh  where even primary education is a distant dream.

Geeta's mother is illiterate and father works in a farming field. She is the youngest of the three siblings. Arun Tiwari, girl's teacher, is feeling proud of Geeta and says that the girl is god-gifted.

Girl like Geeta can be source of inspiration for the children of this backward region and has proved that there is no shortage of talent. Given the opportunity, motivation  and support talented students of this tribal areas can make history.
