Interview by Dr Ajay Kumar Ojha

Interview of Yogendra Mahto himself a Tharu & a teacher  belonging to Bakhari Bazaar Village of Ramnagar block of West Champaran Bihar India. He speaks on the the impact of attainment of  Schedule Tribe(ST) status from earlier status of Other Backward Class (OBC) on Tharu society. Tharus of West Champaran became Schedule Tribe in 2003 after long drawn out peaceful but continuous struggle. Tharus  of Uttar Pradesh ( now Uttarakhand also)   got the status of Schedule Tribe long back just after India attained Independence but  Tharus of West Champaran have been deprived of this benefit for over more than five decades.Damage done to Tharus of West Champaran can never be undone. Is not it?
