AIIMS APPROVAL :
AYURVEDA FOR RHEUMATOID ARHTRITIS

"In a significant scientific validation for traditional therapies, India's premier medical institution, AIIMS, has found certain Ayurvedic formulations effective in treating rheumatoid arthritis (RA), which causes irreversible joint damage.

The study, conducted on 125 RA patients, found Ayurvedic medicines Ashwagandha powder and Sidh Makardhwaj, helped in relieving pain in tender and swollen joints, and increased mobility in a majority of subjects. Ashwagandha powder is derived from a plant while Sidh Makardhwaj is a formulation of herbal and mineral ingredients.

The study was part of a larger research being conducted by the institution, known for cutting-edge treatments, for scientific validation of therapies offered under traditional systems of medicine.AIIMS is also conducting multiple studies to validate alternative therapies for epilepsy, Alzheimer's and chronic heart failure, among others.

Interest in traditional medicines is renewed and growing exponentially due to the adverse drug reactions and economic burden associated with modern system of medicine. The central government is promoting them too.

Whether we accept it or not, there are many people in India who subscribe to the health benefits of alternative therapies. It is important to scientifically validate the claims about their efficacy rather than ignoring them totally."

Easter Sunday is one of the most festive events among Christians worldwide. It commemorates Jesus Christ’s resurrection from death, as written in the Christian bible.

Many Christians worldwide celebrate Easter with special church services, music, candlelight, flowers and the ringing of church bells. Easter processions are held in some countries such as the Philippines and Spain. Many Christians view Easter as the greatest feast of the Church year. It is a day of joy and celebration to commemorate that Jesus Christ is risen, according to Christian belief.

Many Christians celebrate Easter Sunday as the day of Jesus Christ’s resurrection, which is written in the New Testament of the Christian bible. According to the Gospel of John in the New Testament, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb where Jesus was buried and found it empty. An angel told her that Jesus had risen. Christians worldwide have celebrated Easter for centuries.

However, the roots of the Easter holiday’s traditions and activities can be traced back to pagan celebrations. The name Easter is believed to come from Eostara, the goddess of rebirth. In early times the Feast of Eostara celebrated earth’s resurrection and rebirth. Strict Puritans would have nothing to do with Easter – it was merely a human institution – in the past.

Easter eggs and the Easter Bunny are both fertility symbols, holdovers from the feast of Eostara. Other symbolic parallels include the pagan joy in the rising sun of spring, which coincides with Christians’ joy in the rising Son of God, and the lighting of candles in churches, which corresponds to the pagan bonfires. The symbol of the cross and images of Jesus Christ, through paintings or statues, are remembered on Easter Day.

ANGKOR WAT (HINDU TEMPLE) : WORLD'S LARGEST RELIGIOUS MONUMENT

ANGKOR WAT (HINDU TEMPLE) :
WORLD'S LARGEST RELIGIOUS MONUMENT

Angkor Wat  was first a Hindu, then subsequently a Buddhist, temple complex in Cambodia and the largest religious monument in the world. The temple was built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century in Yaśodharapura, present-day Angkor, the capital of the Khmer Empire, as his state temple and eventual mausoleum. Breaking from the Shaiva tradition of previous kings, Angkor Wat was instead dedicated to Vishnu. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious center since its foundation. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture, which received major influence from Kalinga architecture.[1] It has become a symbol of Cambodia,[2] appearing on its national flag, and it is the country's prime attraction for visitors.

Angkor Wat combines two basic plans of Khmer temple architecture: the temple-mountain and the later galleried temple, based on early Dravidian architecture, with key features such as the Jagati. It is designed to represent Mount Meru, home of the devas in Hindu mythology: within a moat and an outer wall 3.6 kilometres (2.2 mi) long are three rectangular galleries, each raised above the next. At the centre of the temple stands a quincunx of towers. Unlike most Angkorian temples, Angkor Wat is oriented to the west; scholars are divided as to the significance of this. The temple is admired for the grandeur and harmony of the architecture, its extensive bas-reliefs, and for the numerous devatas adorning its walls.

The modern name, Angkor Wat, means "Temple City" or "City of Temples" in Khmer; Angkor, meaning "city" or "capital city", is a vernacular form of the word nokor, which comes from the Sanskrit word nagara (नगर).[3] Wat is the Khmer word for "temple grounds" (Sanskrit: वाट vāṭa ""enclosure").[4] Prior to this time the temple was known as Preah Pisnulok (Vara Vishnuloka in Sanskrit), after the posthumous title of its founder.

FOR A SECTION OF MUSLIM WOMEN "BHAGWAN RAM SYMBOL OF SOCIAL & RELIGIOUS HARMONY"

FOR A SECTION OF MUSLIM WOMEN "BHAGWAN RAM SYMBOL OF SOCIAL & RELIGIOUS HARMONY"

It has been reported that  for a section of Muslim women in Kashi, Bhagwan Ram is the symbol of religious and social harmony.

These Muslim women celebrated the birth of Bhagwan Ram on the occasion of Ramnavami. Later they sang 'sohar'(Childbirth songs of joy) and celebrated 'chhathi' ceremony of Ramlala, the sixth day after the birth. They also prepared 'prasad' for the bhog of Ramlala.

They are of the view that this will not only strengthen the bonding of  Hindu-Muslim but also conserve and popularize sohar singing which is on the brink of getting extinct.

One of these Muslim women Nazneen Ansari has also scripted 'Shri Ram Aarti' and 'Shri Ram Prarthana'. Nazneen opines that Ram is ancestor of all Indians, and his name is a key to all problems.

Nazneen and her fellow members believe that Ayodhya belongs to Ram and if Muslims want respect from Hindus, they should come forward to build  the temple at his birthplace.

Hearing capacity

0.1-135     Can hear
15-20        No loss to ear
60-65        Sound piercing to ear
115            Ear curtain gets damaged at this level
85-120       Cracker's sound
85-115       Sound of Headphone
         Decibel

It has been pointed out  by research  that upto  85 decibel is the safe limit for our ears.

Rain drops          40  Db
Chatting              60  Db
City Traffic         85  Db

According to the guidelines of Central Pollution Control Board there is 12 to 13 times more noise than required. There should be 55Db noise in the day & upto 45Db in the night but near flyovers 75 to 83 Db noise pollution is being recorded. Children are falling prey to hearing loss due to excessive use of headphones.

It is unfortunate that people are becoming aware of air pollution but sound pollution is being neglected  at every level.

WHY " GOOD FRIDAY" IS GOOD FRIDAY ?

WHY "GOOD FRIDAY" IS  GOOD FRIDAY ?

Good Friday is the Friday preceding the Easter Sunday. Good Friday is a Christian Religious Holiday commemorating  the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. Calvary, also Golgotha was, according to the Gospels, a site immediately outside Jerusalem's walls where Jesus was crucified.

The etymology of  the term "Good" in the context of Good Friday is debated. Some opine that it is from the senses pious, holy or the word "good" while others contend that it is a corruption of "God Friday". First etymology is generally supported, giving " of a day or season observed as holy by the church" as an archaic sense of good.

Catholic church treats Good Friday as a fast day. Traditionally  no bells are rung on Good Friday or Holy Saturday  until the Easter Vigil.

Easter Vigil or the Great Vigil of Easter, is a service held in traditional Christian churches as the first official  celebration of Resurrection of Jesus.
