This school is just like any other school but with a difference. It has been observed that this school inculcates in the students the importance of Indian culture & values and also tries to spread the spirit of patriotism & nationalism among the students. On sports day also the songs selected were not cheap.

1st Wheelchair Man to Touch South Pole

Aron Anderson a Swedish national got cancer in the lower back when he was seven years old and been in wheelchair ever since.

Anderson is not an ordinary badass, uncompromising person. He had participated in four Paralympic Games, hand-cycling from Sweden to  Paris, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, and completing two Stockholm Marathons.

Anderson went out for this arduous journey of reaching South Pole with the objective of raising one euro for each metre of his move to benefit the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation.

Anderson trekked 640 kms from the edge of Antarctica to South Pole. The journey took a frigid twenty one days, as temperature averaged  -30 degrees Celsius. He had quite a bit of wind  so there was a chill factor of  -36 degrees.

Anderson catapulted himself with just his arm muscles for ten hours each day of the 21-day journey. It was the greatest of the challenges to reach the 620 mile-wide  polar plateau. It was a climb of around 2000 metres which was really hard.

Anderson dubbed this project "Pole of Hope".

Dima Hasao district , earlier called North Cachar Hills district, is an administrative district in the state of Assam in Northeast India. "Dima Hasao" means "Dimasa Hills" in Dimasa language.

Dima Hasao district is an Autonomous District (Lok Sabha  Constituency) enjoying the sixth schedule status granted by the Constitution of India. It is surrounded by Karbi Anglong district (E) and Nagaland on North East, Manipur on East, Nagaon district on North, Karbi Anglong district (W) on North West, Meghalaya on West and Cachar district on South.

This district was in the news as villagers of one of its villages Boro Robi have constructed a 6-km road on their own without any support from Government, connecting their isolated village to the world.

The villagers had approached the government many times, knocked the doors for years but without any positive response.

The villagers of Boro Robi of Haflong tehsil had to cross a hill from Jatinga side which was not only very time consuming but arduous and strenuous too.

After initial survey villagers with the help and guidance of a social entrepreneur Aching Zeme decided to construct 6-km road to connect Boro Robi with Zaikang village which has a motorable road and thus linking their isolated village to the world.

This is a successful story of an extraordinary resolve of simple & innocent villagers in a distant - remote area of North East India  and also inspiration for others.

France became the first country in the world to power the street lights  after inaugurating  the world's first 'solar highway'.

The little known  Normandy village of Tourouvre becomes part of history by opening the 'solar highway'. Tourouvre is a former commune in the Orne department in north-western France.

The one-kilometre road named a "Wattway" is built at a cost of  €5m.

It is covered with 2,800sqm of resin-coated solar panels that is hooked up to the power grid.

Northern France is not known for its beating sun but the region now hosts the world's first 'solar highway'. 

The idea is that roadways are occupied by motor vehicles only around 20% of the time providing vast expanses of surface to soak up the sun rays.

Solar panels have become increasingly popular in recent years as the cost of operating them has come down remarkably, making it cost competitive with traditional energy in certain regions.

Kashmir has three months of severe winter. It has been divided into three parts called Chillas.

1. Chillai Kalan : 

This is the forty day period of harsh winter. Harshest winter visits valley from 21st December and continues upto 31st January next year.

During Chillai Kalan the weather in Kashmir valley continues to remain dry and cold with minimum temperatures going below freezing point.

The chances of snowfall are most frequent and maximum during Chillai Kalan. It mostly remains overcast during this period.

Traditionally many families would prepare 'Shebdeg' on the first day of Chillai Kalan. A fat duck would be cooked with spices and turnips in an earthen vessel.

2.Chillai Khurd (Small cold):

 Chillai Kalan is followed by a twenty day long period Chillai Khurd. It occurs between 31st January and 19th February.

3. Chillai Bachha (Baby cold):

Chillai Khurd is followed by a ten day long period Chillai Bachha. It comes on 20th February and continues upto 2nd March.

Monoliths exist throughout length and breadth of Jaintia and Khasi hills.

The local monolith are erected in honour of  heroes who lost their lives in battles and in remembrance of clan members.

The vertical stones commemorate male members of the tribe , whereas the flat horizontal ones represent the womenfolk.

Nartiang in Jaintia hills  almost 63 kms from Shillong has the largest collection of monoliths in the state.

The tallest monolith (27ft) in Nartiang was erected by U Mar Phalyngki, a trusted lieutenant of king of Jaintia to commemorate his victory in a battle. 

The cluster of monoliths in the Jaintia hills is an amazing site. The site has been declared of national importance under the Ancient Monument and Archaeological Sites & Remains Act 1958.

The Nartiang site can be literally called a garden of monoliths.

The menhirs are locally called Ki Moo Shynrang (men) and dolmens are known as Ki Moo Kynthai (women).
