Tourists coming to Kashmir, are usually taken to Pahalgam, Sonmarg and Gulmarg but there are many other beautiful unexplored places in Kashmir. One such place is Doodhpathri which is now being developed as a tourist destination and requires huge publicity.
Doodhpathri is located in Budgam district of Jammu & Kashmir and around 42 km from state summer capital Srinagar.
Doodhpathri is a place where one feels like surrounded by emerald green meadows that stretch infinitely. It is a place where one can spend quality time near a crystal clear milk-like flowing river, while breathing fresh air blown from sky-high pine trees. It is a place where one can talk with nature and be one with nature far from the madding crowd and away from din & bustle of city life.
Doodhpathri has no permanent settlement and is inaccessible during winter due to heavy snowfall.
Main attractions in and around Doodhpatri are :
Tangnar : This place is 2 km before Doodhpathri. It is a bea place of small valleys with deodar and pine trees on small hills.
Mujpathri: Valley of Turnip is a small hamlet 3 km from Doodhpathri situated on the bank of river Shaliganga.
Palmaidan: This means "Big Stones Ground". The name of the place is after "Big Stones" because there are huge stones all around the ground situated at a distance of about 5 km from Doodhpathri. It is a beautiful place with a small stream running on one side of the ground, rich in deodar and pine trees.
