Twenty Six acres of Humanun's Tomb of New Delhi  was inscribed as world heritage - a monument of outstanding universal value by UNESCO   in 1993. Humayun's Tomb is the tomb of Mughal Emperor Humayun commissioned by Humayun's son Akbar in 1569-70. It was the first garden-tomb on the Indian sub-continent.

Four monuments of the structures namely Isa Khan's Tomb, Bu
Halima's Tomb, Nila Gumbad  and Arab ki Serai got the prestigious tag in 2015.

Another seven monuments - Sunderwala Mahal, Sunder Burj, Lakkarwala Burj, Mirza Muzaffar Hussain's Tomb, Chhote Batashewala Mahal, An Unknown Mughal Tomb and Nila Gumbad added to the world heritage buffer zone by UNESCO last month. This, it is claimed, is the first-ever expansion of a world heritage site.

Last year Nalanda and Kanchenjunga were also nominated for world heritage inscription.
