Even after such wide ranging international footprints Bhojpuri remained a neglected language unfortunately in its place of origin only. It could not be  included in the Eighth Schedule of Indian constitution and given the the status of constitutional language for the last almost seven decades.

But now there is every likelihood that Bhojpuri language will find its rightful place in the Eighth Schedule and get the status of constitutional language. Decision has also been taken to construct a smart village and Non-resident Bhojpuri Dham at  the cost of 100 crore in Varanasi. A 108 ft statue of "Bhojpuria Mai" will also be established.
