Meticulous Management of the Massive Coverage of Mega Event South Asian Games 2016 held at Guwahati & Shillong from 5th to 16th February 

Doordarshan was the Host Broadcaster for South Asian Games 2016.  The participated eight countries were Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka beside the host country India.

Doordarshan had deployed 7 OB vans and 7 DSNG units at Guwahati along with 600 technical, programme and administrative staff.

For coverage of events at Shillong Doordarshan had deployed 2 OB vans, 2 DSNG units and one EFP van along with 250 technical, programme and administrative staff.

The SA Games 2016 were telecast on Doordarshan as per following details: -

·       Live telecast of Opening and Closing  Ceremonies on DD National, DD Sports, DD India, DD Urdu and DD North East channels.

·         Daily highlights on DD National.

·     DD Sports: Live/deferred live/reports round-the-clock from 5^th to 16^th February 2016.  DD Sports had virtually become South Asian Games Channel during the games period.  As per the BARC report the audience of DD Sports increased by 109% during the period of SA Games 2016.
