Kerala is known as "The God's Own Country" and one of its district Kollam as "The God's Own Capital". Kollam is also the capital of Kerala's cashew processing & coir manufacturing industry. It is endowed with a long coastline, a major Arabian Sea seaport and a beautiful island lake known as Ashtamudi Lake. About thirty percent of the district is covered by Ashtamudi Lake.
The Headquarter of Mata Amritanandmayi Math (MAM) is also situated in Kollam. The President's Trophy Boat Race is one of the popular Vallam Kali held on Ashtamudi Lake on November 1st every year. The day marks the birth of Indian State of Kerala known as Kerala Piravi.

DeleteThanks a lot for your sweet words. I took these photographs while I visited Kerala for the coverage of 35th National Games 2015 as a Nodal Officer of my organization. I toured almost all the districts of Kerala as venues of National Games had been scattered over whole of Kerala- a green, clean and beautiful state of India.
Today I am deeply pained to hear the news of one of the worst tragedies to hit Kerala engulfing the 100 -year -old Puttingal Devi Complex (in Kollam) in devastating fire during an unauthorized display of fireworks.
