 Bhujahawa Fair in Harnatand of Tharuhat of West Champaran 




Harnatand is major Tharu tribal-dominated area located in the Bagaha-2 block of West Champaran (Bihar). It is known as the "Capital of Tharuhat" - Tharuhat that is land of the Tharus. The area is rapidly developing into a medical hub. The Tharu Festival Fair is also held here annually.

  • Tharu Festival Fair: The famous Tharu Festival Fair, formerly known as the Bhujahawa Fair, is held here every year. Earlier this fair was known as the Bhujahawa Fair because people would bring "Anandi Bhuja" and Chokha from home. It was customary to eat bhuja-chokha after offering prayers to  Lord Shiva which gave the fair its early name Bhujahawa.
