Special - Special Sharad Purnima 2016
Sharad Purnima is one of the most prominent Purnimas in Hindu Calender. It is believed that Sharad Purnima is the only day in the whole year when moon appears with all sixteen Kalas.

In Hinduism every human quality is related with certain Kala and it is supposed that the combination of sixteen Kalas create a perfect human personality.

Lord Krishna was born with all the sixteen Kalas and was the complete incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
On this day moon shines not only with all sixteen Kalas but also its rays have certain special healing properties. These healing properties have the power to nourish the body and the soul. Not only that . It is also believed that the moon rays on the day of Sharad Purnima shed small drops of nectar.

Traditionally, on this day a famous Indian sweet dish Rice-Kheer is made of rice, cow milk and sugar and kept in the moonlight for the whole night. Rice-Kheer invigorated with moonlight is consumed next day & distributed among the family members as "Prasadam".
In 2016 Purnim tithi began at 1325 hrs on 15th October and ended at 0953 hrs on 16th October.
