It  was amazing for my eyes  to zero-in on a curious foreign onlooker outside the active area of the games during Mizo Indigenous Games Festival. I could not resist my temptation of interacting with him as it was unexpected of any such spectator amidst such festival in such a remote corner of inaccessible North East India Mizoram which requires Inner Line Permit (ILP) for entry.

I galloped towards him without wasting much time and introduced myself and then asked about him & his purpose of visit. He told that he is David from England and he became curious of  watching this festival after reading in Newspapers & learning from his friends in Aizawl.

When I asked to give his comments on Indigenous Games Festival he was reluctant to tell anything as he was not aware of these games. But he was pleased to see the indigenous games festival  being organized on such a large scale  in such a remote place and being live -telecast  for three consecutive days by Doordarshan.

Mr David seemed to be very inquisitive about the games and talked about similar games being played in England also. "But every game has its own region-specific, culture-specific, nature-specific peculiarities"  I told. One should look at every culture from Cultural Relativist point of view and not that of

Cultural Ethnocentrist, then only can one know that every culture has its own importance & relevance in its own nature-man-spirit complex.

After knowing my background (Doctorate in Sociology/Anthropology from JNU New Delhi) Mr David said that his brother Prof Paul Drew is also a renowned Sociologist in England. And  I could easily  find him surfing through net that Prof Paul Drew is a leading scholar internationally in Conversation Analysis.
