The English name Phoenix comes from the Irish 'fionn uisce'  meaning "clear water".

In classical mythology, phoenix meaning a unique bird that lived for 5 or 6 centuries in the Arabian desert, after this time burning itself on a funeral pyre and rising from the ashes with renewed youth to live through another cycle. It also means a person or thing regarded as uniquely remarkable in some respect.

"Rise like phoenix from the ashes" means emerging renewed after apparent disaster or destruction.
