Panini : the Great Ancient Grammarian of Ancient Gandhara now Modern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa- the Hotbed of Terrorism

Panini, father of linguistics,  was an ancient Sanskrit philologist, grammarian, and a revered scholar in India. He lived in northwest Indian subcontinent around 4th century BC during Mahajanapada era.

He is said to have born in Shalatula of ancient Gandhara, near modern Lahor - a small town at the junction of the Indus and Kabul rivers, which falls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Swat valley of Pakistan, nerve centre of now terrorist activities. This area has been once the nerve centre of great learning, art & culture in ancient period.

Balakot air strike by India took place recently  in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa only.

Panini is known for his Ashtadhyayi text, a sutra- style treatise  on Sanskrit grammar, foundation text of Vyakarana branch of the Vedanga. His formalization of language seems to have been
influential in the formalization of dance and music by Bharat Muni. His ideas influenced and attracted commentaries from scholars of other Indian religion such as Buddhism.

Panini was depicted on a five-rupee Indian Postage Stamp in August 2004.
