The Se La is a high altitude critical & strategic mountain pass located on the border between the Tawang and West Kamang districts of Arunachal Pradesh India. It has an elevation of 13,700 ft and connects Tibetan Buddhist town of Tawang to Dirang and Guwahati. Se La is a critical mountain pass connecting Tawang to the rest of India.

The government of India announced the funding for construction of all-weather Se La transport  tunnel in 2018-19 budget. The Prime Minister of India laid the foundation stone on 9th February 2019 for already-announced an all-weather tunnel under Se La which will allow faster troop mobility along the  border. Se La tunnel project will take the Border Roads Organization around three years to complete with a cost pegged at Rs 687 crore.

The all - weather tunnel is expected to help impart a much-needed strategic thrust to Indian Army against China. The 12.04 km project, with two tunnels, will provide all-weather connectivity to Tawang and other forward areas. It will reduce the travelling time from Tezpur to Tawang in a major way. The travellers and tourists would be able to avoid the dangerous snow covered Se La top at a height of 13,700 ft.

The famous "Jaswantgarh War Memorial" dedicated to a Sepoy of Indian Army Jaswant Singh Rawat, who fought all alone against the Chinese soldiers, is near the Se La (Pass).
