Shillong is the capital and hill station of Meghalaya - Scotland of North East India & "Abode of Clouds". It is the headquarter of East Khasi Hiils district and is situated at an average altitude of 4,908 feet above sea level, with the highest point being Shillong Point at 6,449 feet above sea level. Being the highest point in Shillong it offers stunning and spectacular views of lush greenery and cascading waterfalls. Situated almost 10 Kms from the city on Shillong -Sohra (Cherrapunjee) road near the famous Elephanta Falls, Shillong Peak gives opportunity to experience spectacular view of the city from an impressive height . If one is here fortunately on a day when it is not cloudy , there is every possibility of viewing the majestic Himalayan peaks and the plains of Bangladesh from this place. Indian Air Force has its Radar Station here that is why entry is regulated and restricted and that too after proper scrutiny. Let us view a video clip "From the Eyes of Dr Ajay Kumar Ojha" to view spectacular Shillong from Shillong View Point.
