Lively Jeollabuk-do, the Essence of Korea



Korean Cultural Centre India, in recent years, with Kim Kum Pyong as its Director, has been very active in organizing various cultural functions in India particularly in Delhi, all throughout the year which have substantially contributed to strengthening Indo-Korean cultural relations.

Even otherwise Indo-Korean relation has always been very very special since ages. 


"Korea Festival 2015 -Lively Jeollabuk-do, the essence of Korea" was organized on 28-29 November at Select Citywalk Saket in Delhi to experience Kaleidoscopic Korea. It was a collaborative endeavour of Korean Cultural Centre India and South Korea's Jeollabuk-do Province Council with the involvement of Indian dignitaries for giving a 3D effect to the special Indo-Korean relation. Alongside there is also 10 days Korean Food Festival hosted at Hotel Eros, Nehru Palace New Delhi.

North Jeolla  Province or Jeollabuk-do is a province in the Southwest of South Korea. Jeollabuk-do is full of traditional cultural heritages and historical sites. It is home to Namwon - the setting of the well-known pansori 'Chunhyangjeon'. Pansori is a Korean genre of musical storytelling performed by a vocalist and a drummer. The music is generally performed by one sorikkun and one gosu. The province is also home to Jeonju -a designated slow city known for its hanok village and bibimbap. Bibimbap is a signature Korean dish.

The festival has provided a great opportunity to the people of India to  enjoy the flavours of art, food, culture and also tourism related entertainment package spanning over a week. It has also  brought traditional dance and amazing comedic martial arts (JUMP), traditional Korean Hanji paper fashion show, workshops and interactive art, exhilarating K-Pop infused D J Nights and world famous performance of K-Tigers (Taekwondo Group).

The people of India have started developing more and more interest in kaleidoscopic Korea and its captivating culture than ever before and "Korea Festival 2015" will definitely going to add another height of strengthening the bond & relationship between these two countries who celebrate Independence on the same day - 15th August.
