Dr Ajay Kumar Ojha superannuated from India's Public Service Broadcaster - Doordarshan as Senior Officer of Indian Broadcasting Service. Before joining Doordarshan after being recruited through UPSC, Dr Ajay had worked as Correspondent in United Newspapers, New Delhi. At present Dr Ajay Kumar is Advocate, Supreme Court of India. Dr Ajay Kumar Ojha is an author, editor of many books, singer, artist, social activist, YouTuber, Blogger, Producer - and also a farmer. He is an auditioned artist of Akashvani for Bhojpuri Lokgeet. His rare photographs have received the attention of many art lovers in Speaking Art Festival 2024 held in Rabindra Bhawan, New Delhi and International Art Exhibition "Nakshatra" 2024 in AIFACS (All India Fine Art & Craft Society), near New Parliament House, Rafi Marg, New Delhi. Dr. Ojha is an ardent champion of Yoga, Ayurveda & Naturopathy, and above all Indian culture ie. भारतीय संस्कार एवं संस्कृति.

Dr Ajay Kumar Ojha, a law graduate from Delhi University, has done his PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University on the Tharu tribe of West Champaran in Bihar based on participant observation technique of research methodology following the traditions of famous Anthropologists such as Radcliffe-Brown, Malinowski, E. Evans Pritchard. He has been associated with the Tharu tribe for more than five decades. He continues to visit the tharuhat - the land of Tharu tribe even today.

Dr Ajay is perhaps the first to write Thesis on The Tharus of West Champaran (for PhD from JNU Delhi) tracing the journey from Tribe to OBC to Schedule Tribe for almost over three decades adopting the technique of fieldwork based on Participant Observation. This thesis is unique & one of its kind in the field of social research, in the history of social research - in the sense that it is the outcome of almost thirty years of continuous research & association with the Tharu Tribe (Now Schedule Tribe) in a region which was known as Mini-Chambal, Maoist-infested & the most inhospitable - living amidst them, in their village, in their hut for months together facing all odds including no-electricity, no medical facility, no phone, no communication, no road, no transport, no press, no media, no social media and above all risking everyday threat to my life. Dr Ajay would have taken any other topic and jollywell submitted his thesis by sitting in air conditioned libraries of Delhi, but he chose to work on the Tharus of West Champaran the most neglected, the most misunderstood living in the remotest corner of India on Indo-Nepal border under the most difficult & inhospitable condition. Without any doubt or hesitation it can be have stated that he has been a key person in the late ninety eighties in motivating-persuading the enlightened Tharus such as Shankar Mahato, Yogendra Prasad Mahato, Ramchandra Khatait of Bakhari Bazar & Ramnath Kaji for fighting for getting the Schedule Tribe Status. Dr Ajay Kumar even highlighted their genuine demands by writing articles in various magazines such as Analysis & Yojana published from Delhi when no person from the Press dared to enter the Tharuhat region. And the result was that the Tharus of West Champaran were declared a Schedule Tribe in 2003. The association of Dr Ajay with the Tharus of West Champaran has not stopped but even continues today.
